Desserts in China are different from in the West. China is known for many things and Chinese food is certainly one of the most famous items in worldwide cuisine. There are also some popular desserts.

1. Red Bean Bun

It is one of the most popular Chinese dessert. Those lovely and soft steamed buns are so great for breakfast.

2. Dragons Beard Candy

Dragons Beard Candy is a handmade traditional art of China. It is also a traditional Chinese sweet similar to spun sugar, and is very sticky. It melts easily, and becomes even stickier, when it is exposed to high temperatures. This food is generally sold by the side of the road, or at stalls near popular tourist destinations.

Egg Tart is a kind of custard tart found in Hong Kong, Portugal, England, and various Asian countries, which consists of an outer pastry crust that is filled with egg custard and baked.

4. Fried Durian

This dessert is more common in summer, as this is when the durian is in season.

5. Tanghulu

糖葫芦, 糖葫蘆, tánghúlu, bingtanghulu (Chinese)

Traditional Chinese snack of candied fruit. It originated from northern China, but it is now commonly available in most Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai. It consists of fruits covered in hard candy on bamboo skewers that are approximately 20cm long.

6. Pumpkin Pancake

It is deep fried pumpkin pancakes consisting mainly of pumpkin, sugar, and flour. They are very popular in winter, and are some of the sweetest things around in China.

Tangyuan is a Chinese food made from glutinous rice flour mixed with a small amount of water to form balls and is then cooked and served in boiling water.

10. Grass Jelly

Grass Jelly is a jelly-like dessert.It is made using the Platostoma palustre plant (a member of the mint family) and has a mild, slightly bitter taste. It is served chilled, with other toppings such as fruit, or in bubble tea or other drinks.
